Early in the mornings when the house is quiet and the aroma of fresh coffee lures me to the kitchen, it’s the perfect time for me to tell God about everything that’s going on in my life, my concerns, my hopes, and my dreams. The best part of this time is when I stop talking and take the time to listen for His response.
I know from experience that life has a way of consuming our time and making us feel we can’t spare another minute. We throw out a quick prayer and run out the door with our cell phones in hand in a mad rush to get…somewhere. Of course, even the quick prayer is better than no prayer, but when do you slow down long enough to listen for God’s input? Have you even considered that He may want to respond?
When hanging out with our friends don’t we carry on conversation and listen to our friend’s responses? Certainly. That is, unless we are preoccupied with other things, then our friends end up repeating themselves simply because we weren’t listening.
God said in Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.” In our busy, instant, computerized world we want to Google everything…even God. But to get to know Him on a personal basis, you have to develop a friendship with him by spending quality time with Him, talking to Him and then listening. He will answer. It may take you a few times to learn how to hear Him, but if you are persistent and truly desire to hear from God…He will meet with you wherever you choose…and talk to you.
I’d love to hear your experiences of how you hear from God.

I have been working on that. Hectic busy days in this world make it hard but I believe God desires all of us to pursue that friendship.
