I want to stir your thinking about the way you look at breathing. Consider the fact that every time you inhale you are taking in the breath of God and every time you exhale you are returning yours and God’s breath into the air. When it’s cold outside you can actually see your breath as it blows out. So what am I saying?
You have natural God-given gifts. What are you doing with them? Are they safely tucked away so no one can compare you to someone else? Were they squelched when someone laughed at your attempts? Has the sparkle in your eyes dimmed because you’d really like to pursue your gifts, but so many years have passed, and well, you figure it’s just too late?
I just completed an 8-week study on The Creative Call. It was a fabulous study about our gifts/talents and a huge encourager to get you motivated into awakening those gifts and talents…for God’s glory.
So when you breathe in the breath of God, pursuing what God called you to do, you breathe out that creative call. In other words, when you are seeking God for His direction for your gift and you determine yourself to make time to re-establish that gift, you will be giving back to God what He desired of you. I loved the statement from The Creative Call, “It’s not God’s gift to you, it’s God’s gift through you.”
Listen, I have twelve grandchildren. It was only five years ago that I began writing classes with Jerry Jenkins Christian Writers Guild. It took me four years to complete these classes, and because of them and a lot of hard work, I now have published eight stories in various Christian books and an anthology, and I’ve just completed my first novel.
Please don’t give up on your gifts. It’s not too late. Take in a deep breath to awaken your gifts. Then, breath out the manifestation of those gifts. It make take practice and determination, but with the right attitude, not neglecting your present responsibilities, you will open a new door of God’s blessings for your life.

So often we think that we are to do 1 great thing but to be honest it is the small things that wear, destroy and corrupt a relationship and life is about relationships. Maybe God has called us to do small things to build up, encourage and give hope. Isn’t that what Jesus did? He was not born as a king on earth but when He spoke, people listened because He spoke truth, love and forgiveness. In that example, we are to take the opportunity each day to touch someone’s life so their relationship comes closer to God. I am not saying to give up on dreams but to start where you are.
Thank you for being you and listening to God.

Hi Loretta. I love this! I definitely can relate and I’m proud of us ( ๐ ) for taking the step we have with our writing. You’re right…when God gave us gifts, He meant for us to use them! Congrats on all your accomplishments.

I love this. This certainly got me thinking. I know I have just tucked away my gifts for another time, but I should start seeking God in what He would have me do. I know He is in control and He will guide me with the right steps to take in my life.
