When I stepped into the water I felt an awesome thing,
Deep inside my being was the rumbling of a spring.
A flash before my eyes was the life I had lived,
Then I realized . . . Jesus will forgive.
My mouth began to utter repentance in His name,
No longer do I hang my head in unforgiven shame.
Oh, I’ll never leave this water; I’ll not miss the dry land
‘Cause my eyes have been opened to the spiritual side of man.
I long for my family and all those around
To step into this water so Jesus can be found.
Their eyes will be opened; their hearts will be changed
In the river of forgiveness . . . it’s found in Jesus’ name.
I thank God for the river; He washed away my sin.
Yes, Jesus is that river; He cleansed the souls of man.
He filled my life with hope, peace, and purity.
God, thank you for this river . . . You set my spirit free.
“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a
spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14 NIV).
This is another one of my poems from my 2003 collection of Good Ole Spiritual Food. I wrote many of them during a time when pain, suffering, and disappointments attempted to destroy me. But, through writing, I found a release from my distress, followed by a peace that none can fathom. All because of Christ.
He can open the doors to your dreams and bless you in ways that seem impossible, but you must trust him wholeheartedly.
Now, I’m enjoying my dreams by writing Christian romantic suspense, and life is good. Who says Christians have to be stuffy? Bah-Humbug! I love putting my characters in tough situations where they have to trust Christ to get through each one. Isn’t that the way life really works? One thing after another?
Maybe that’s why my writing business card reads Never a Dull Moment. There’s always something going on, so go ahead . . . join me . . . step into the water and set your spirit free!
