Congratulations to Susan Sleeman on her December 3rd release of Seconds To Live, book one of her Homeland Heroes series!
The opening pages of Seconds To Live thrusts readers into the intensity of a crime about to happen. With the turn of each page, the action and suspense build. The adrenaline rush keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Taylor Mills, U.S. Marshal WITSEC Deputy, is assigned to protect individuals in the witness protection program. She buries herself in her work determined to save everyone, especially her newest assignment, Dustee, due to her commitment as a deputy and the guilt she carries. She avoids any possible relationships, except her virtual friendship with Sean Nichols. She’s comfortable sharing details of her life with someone she’s never met and is certain, never will.
FBI Agent Sean Nichols, Taylor’s virtual friend, takes the lead in investigating cybercriminals when the U.S. Marshalls’ Witness Protection database is breached and witnesses’ personal data is being sold by a hacker, putting witnesses at risk of certain death. Sean is thrilled to take the lead, but that means he must go to Portland, where Taylor, the girl he’s never met, will be part of his team. He’d shared personal stuff about his life and was hesitant about meeting her, much less working with her.
Tensions rise, attraction builds, and love develops. All while Sean and Taylor, along with their teammates try to keep Dustee alive. The author did a fabulous job with developing unexpected twists that will have readers suspecting everyone, even those on their team.
I highly recommend this book. Seconds To Live is an appropriate title for the minute-by-minute, second-by-second action.
I give this book five stars.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
