This cleverly crafted novel is full of action and suspense. The excellent pacing and increased tension ramp up the intensity which keeps the reader turning the page.
Emma Winter, a Natchez Trace Ranger and historian, discovers unusual activity at a historical landmark when she arrives to retrieve a file from her office. Unexpectedly, an intruder on the property shoots at her. She scrambles for safety under the porch and calls for help. The one person she didn’t want to respond to the call and have to work with is her ex-fiancé, Sam Riker, a Natchez Trace law enforcement district manager. But he was the first to arrive.
As if she doesn’t have enough to deal with by facing Sam again, she becomes the target of a crazed stalker determined to have her as his own. During it all, there’s a murder, her brother is missing, she’s shot at, and she receives a bouquet of rare flowers, along with a strange note.
Sam takes the shooting seriously and must protect her despite their differences and wounded past. Will Sam guard his heart and keep his relationship with Emma at a distance?
Once again, Patricia Bradley delivers another page-turner. Readers won’t be disappointed.
