In my Bible one day I read, “to mount up with wings as an eagle.”
I had to stop and ask, “Lord, How? For I am in no way equal.
No wings to spread, no talons to grip
I’m afraid of heights, Lord, what if I slip?
No sense of direction, my eyesight weak,
Stepping out in faith is what I seek.
Bowing my head in solemn reverence,
I heard my Lord speak while in His presence.
“Come soar the skies with Me in its beauty and grandeur;
Feel the peaceful tranquility, the freedom and splendor.
Trust in Me, set your spirit free, surrendering your all;
For my child can’t you see, I can fly faster than you can fall.”
Tears streaming down my cheeks, I couldn’t help but smile
The Lord so softly impressed in me the eagle with his style.
Ever so valiant and strong he becomes while striving for his life,
Just the same, we should be, even in the midst of strife.
Still soaring high above the clouds his eyesight ever so keen,
Fully aware of the danger below and the destruction he has seen.
Yet, taking the risk to help his own in their times of need,
He goes into a headlong dive and with fervor I hear him plead.
“Come soar the skies with me in its beauty and grandeur;
Feel the peaceful tranquility, the freedom and splendor.
Trust in me, set your spirit free, surrendering your all;
For my child can’t you see, I can fly faster than you can fall.
Closing my Bible still deep in thought, a reverence I’ve never known,
The understanding of an eagle became reality all its own.
You see an eagle is committed to a life that is free
Of the pressures the world would like to place on you and me.
So be as the eaglets as their nest they depart,
Set the standard of faith that enriches your life and heart.
Cast your gaze upon the Savior as He guides you day by day;
Be listening for His gentle voice, and you will hear Him say…
“Come soar the skies with Me in its beauty and grandeur;
Feel the peaceful tranquility, the freedom and splendor.
Trust in Me, set your spirit free, surrendering your all;
For My child can’t you see, I can fly faster than you can fall.”
