I loved this suspenseful, action-packed novel by Susan Sleeman. She throws in the unexpected when someone attacks her heroine, FBI Special Agent Addison Leigh. Addison runs off the road and crashes, leaving her with no memory of her investigation, her co-workers, or her estranged husband, Deputy U.S. Marshal Mack Jordan.
Mack receives a call about Addison’s wreck. He leaves the case he’s working on in the hands of his co-workers to be by her side and protect her. He’s never quit loving her, but PTSD from his military days forced him to distance himself for her own protection. He longs for the day his issues are under control, so maybe; they can be together again.
When the attacks continue, Mack calls for reinforcements. He summons his Red Team co-workers to join the investigation. Addison used to be one of the team, but she finds herself a stranger among them. Mack insists he’s her husband, but she cannot remember and seeks proof this good-looking man is indeed part of her life.
Will Addison’s memory return in time to put the pieces of her investigation together and find the killer before he kills her? Where was she going the morning of the crash, and why was it so important?
Will Mack find healing in his life enough to overcome his problem and reconcile with Addison? He’s never stopped loving her. Will she take him back?
Hours to Kill will keep readers on their toes as they eagerly anticipate the return of Addison’s memory, Mack’s resolution with PTSD, and the killer’s next move.
I give this book five stars.
