In the little town where Jesus lived so very long ago
A standard was being lifted high, as this young boy did grow.
His Father had a special plan for his life, you see.
To Him, it was a priceless gift for all humanity.
As time passed revealing a man with wisdom beyond measure,
Little did this town know they beheld a Heavenly Treasure.
In obedience to his Father, and the work that must be done,
Jesus set out to fulfill the plan as God’s only Son.
In his attempt to help mankind by healing those sick and lame,
He was accused of evil doing, thus, marring his good name.
Rejection and abuse made no changes in God’s plan,
For Jesus was to pay the price for the sins of every man.
That’s why it’s so important now for everyone to see,
The reason behind this sacrifice that was made for you and me.
Love is the answer; yet, no words can adequately describe,
The depths of its meaning nor the strength it holds inside.
God sent His Son to die for us; this we have been told.
So we can have eternal life that was paid for years ago.
If you search God’s Word you will find in John 3:16
A summary of the reason why—He came to set us free.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).
Prayer: Lord, I know my understanding cannot grasp the depths of Your love. What You did for me I can never repay. Thank You for loving me.
This poem is one of many simplistic poems I wrote and compiled into a devotional poetry book Good Ole Spiritual Food in 2003. Occasionally, I still enjoy reading back through them; pondering and reminiscing their deep meanings.
I hope you enjoyed this sample from my past poetry writing days.
Until next time,
Loretta
