In a world full of negativity, it is important to impart hope to others through intriguing stories that invoke positivity. Friendships are vital regardless of your profession, and writing doesn’t change the fact. Everyone needs supportive, kind, and encouraging friends. I recently read Angelia L White’s book Yes Sisters. The cover sums it up. Surrounding Yourself with Women Who Affirm, Encourage, and Challenge You. This goes for men, too, even though the book focuses on women. Angela says, “We need a friend who helps us become our best selves.” Take Yes Sisters a step further. As a writer, you have…

Shannon Redmon does an extraordinary job kicking off her debut novel. The suspense in Cave of Secrets is immediate and thrusts the story into action. Her characters are well-rounded and her plot intriguing. Carli Moore struggles with the disappearance of her best friend and with resentment toward Sergeant Zain Wescott, her old flame, after he accuses her brother of murder. To make matters worse, Carli finds her friend’s body in a cave on her family’s property. Questioning why anyone would want to kill her friend, she stands by her brother’s innocence and sets out to find proof. Zain Wescott, Sergeant…

A few nights ago, I had a dream about a ship that resembled something one might see in a steampunk setting. One row of windows about the size of a shoebox stretched evenly across the length of the dark gray metal. The ship eased to a stop as it docked at an open field where a gentle breeze tossed flowers of every color and tall green grass, like wispy feathers. Everyone lined up at the exit waiting their turn to escape the dismal floating city. The Captain and his guards stood behind a table at the exit. Before anyone stepped…

The opening scene in Closer Than She Knows will draw you in like a magnet and keep you turning the page. The characters are well-rounded and realistic, and the plot is plausible. I loved the fast-paced action and the suspense that never slowed. Court reporter, Teagan O’Rourke, falls prey to a serial killer who taunts her by leaving personal notes for her at each crime scene. He promises to come after her, but not until he destroys her family and close friends. Against her family’s wishes, Teagan will not carry a weapon for self-defense. Her friend, Max Kennedy, arrives on…

Acceptable Risk is an engaging, well-plotted romantic suspense novel. Lynette’s detailed scenes prove she did her homework and researched protocol with the FBI, ICE, Police, and other government offices. This novel is realistic and plausible. Her characters are well-developed and believable. The action begins with the opening scene and continues until the end. Strap yourself in for a roller coaster ride of suspense, narrow escapes, and near-death experiences. Army Military journalist, Sara Denning finds herself taken hostage while serving in the Middle East. She stands up to her abductors, willing to give her life to save the lives of those…

Another splendid novel by Susan Sleeman! So many intricate details into terrorist investigations, protocol, and other government agencies working together to solve a national threat indicate a lot of research went into pulling this novel off in a superb manner. While FBI Agent Kiley Dawson resents the thought of working with ICE Agent Evan Bowers, her teammates convince her they may need Evan’s expertise may in their investigation. Kiley blames Evan for the death of her former partner. She is convinced he’d made a bad decision and didn’t take his job seriously. She can’t allow her past feelings for him…
